Orland Park police reports: May 8-15

WEDNESDAY, MAY 15

Bad Day

Police were called about a gym member being verbally abusive toward an employee at the Sportsplex around 8:10 a.m. Witnesses told police that a man threw weight clips against a window, and when a female employee asked what he was doing, he cursed at her and walked toward her aggressively, police said. The man later confirmed the witness statements and said he was having a bad day, according to the report. Tomas Stundzia, 20, of the 8500 block of Pine Street in Orland Park, was cited for disorderly conduct.

Don’t Remember

Police pulled over a car after the driver was seen not wearing a seatbelt in the 14200 block of John Humphrey Drive around 7:50 p.m. Police found a warrant for the driver’s arrest, the driver admitted to having Xanax pills on him and police found an open container of tequila in the car, according to the report. The driver said he has a prescription but forgets to take the pills, which is why six had piled up in his pocket, police said. The driver was not aware a warrant had been issued for another charge, according to the report. Shaun A. Maglaya, 26, of the 8300 block of Bromley Street in Orland Park, was arrested on a failure-to-appear warrant for reckless driving, and was charged with possession of a controlled substance, driving without a valid license, illegal transportation of alcohol and failure to wear a seatbelt.

Warrant Arrest

Chicago Heights police called the about a man in custody who was wanted on an Orland Park warrant around 1:50 a.m. Randy D. Gatlin, 26, of the 3700 block of Wentworth Avenue in Chicago, was arrested on a failure-to-appear warrant for retail theft.

SATURDAY, MAY 12

Line Cross

Police pulled over a car for crossing over lane lines while in the 16700 block of LaGrange Road around 2:35 a.m. The driver’s breath smelled like alcohol, and she failed field sobriety tests, police said. Neringa Derevianka, 45, of the 200 block of SW Pinetree Lane in Lee’s Summit, MO., was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence with a blood-alcohol level greater than .08, driving with an obstructed windshield and improper lane use.

FRIDAY, MAY 11

DUI, Speeding

Police pulled over a car for speeding while in the 16200 block of LaGrange Road around 1:15 a.m. The driver’s breath smelled like alcohol and he failed field sobriety tests, police said. Michael K. Domagalski, 27, of the 18100 block of Rita Road in Tinley Park, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence with a blood-alcohol level greater than .08 and speeding.

Forgery

Police were called about a deceptive practice at Chase Bank, 15100 LaGrange Road, around 4 p.m. A man had used a fake driver’s license and false social security card to open up an account, and also attempted to deposit a check for $522.22 signed with the false name on the license, police said. Juan I. Sanchez, 36 of the 9100 block of Lincoln Court in Orland Park, was charged with forgery.

TUESDAY, MAY 8

Jacket Grab

Police were called about a retail theft at Abercrombie and Fitch around 6:40 p.m. Security saw a woman place a jacket into a blue bag she was carrying, before taking another jacket and draping it over her arm, police said. The woman then left the store without paying for the jackets, and was found with $565 worth of unpaid merchandise, according to the report. Tanille D. Clair, 19, of the 7500 block of South Vernon Avenue in Chicago, was charged with retail theft.
