Police Blotter: Drunk Driver Found Slumped Over Wheel; Construction Crew Hit Gas Line

Monday, April 11
White Sox Fever
Melissa R. Grogan, 22, of the 17300 block of Cambridge Place in Tinley Park, was charged with retail theft. Orland Square Mall security told police Grogan left a department store around 4 p.m. without paying for several shirts and White Sox jerseys.

Weaving Between Lanes
Matthew R. Bailey, 26, of the 8800 block of Sacramento Avenue in Evergreen Park, was charged with driving under the influence, improper lane usage and disobeying a traffic control light. Police said they stopped Bailey’s car in the 8600 block of 159th Street around 2 a.m. for weaving between lanes and failing to stop during a right turn.
Minor Drinking, Fighting
Police were called to a condominium in the 7300 block of Evergreen Drive around 7 a.m. about a domestic disturbance and ticketed the couple for underage drinking. Michael L. Konaszewski, 19, of the 7300 block of Evergreen Drive in Orland Park, was charged with illegal possession of alcohol. Rebecca K. Hagy, 19, of the 10300 block of Hilltop Drive in Orland Park, was charged with illegal consumption of alcohol and possession of drug paraphernalia. Police said they found a glass pipe in her sweatshirt. Both suffered cuts, bites or bruises, though no domestic battery charges were issued because police could not determine which person was the aggressor.

Friday, April 8
Jewelry Theft
Jasianna B. Burton, 18, of the 16300 block of Saint Louis Avenue in Markham, was charged with retail theft. Mall security told police Burton left a jewelry store around 7 p.m. with two unpaid pairs of earrings.
Asleep, Slumped Over the Wheel
Jennifer L. Guinn, 34, of the 1100 block of Colonial Drive in Joliet, was charged with DUI. Police said they found Guinn asleep and slumped over the wheel of her car in the 10800 block of 143rd Street around 10:30 p.m. She was transported to Palos Community Hospital because of her high level of intoxication, police said.
Blunt and Bowl Found
Javonte F. Keys, 18, of the 9300 block of Hunter Drive in Orland Park, was charged with possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia. Police said they questioned Keys around 7:15 p.m. while sitting outside a home that was recently burglarized and found a blunt and bowl in his car.
Monday, April 4
Construction Mishap
Douglas Hewlett, 53, of the 7300 block of Monroe Avenue in Hammond, Ind., was charged with disruption of utility services. Hewlett, a construction crew manager, was ticketed after his workers struck a gas line near the 14300 block of La Grange Road around 10:45 a.m.
Sunday, April 3
One Taillight, One Blunt
Thaer F. Dmour, 21, of the 7200 block of 72nd Street in Bridgeview, was charged with possession of cannabis. Police said they stopped Dmour’s car in the 15400 block of La Grange Road around 4 a.m. for driving with only one taillight and found a blunt.
Saturday, April 2
Grabbing the Essentials
Anne L. Paganini, 22, of the 800 block of Rosco Street in Chicago, was charged with retail theft. Police said Paganini left a retail store in the 15700 block of 71st Court around 7 a.m. without paying for $49 worth of food, makeup, Easter cards and school supplies.
Friday, April 1
New Shoes Couldn't Outmaneuver Police
Jamal I. Boykin, 19, of the 7400 block of Indiana Avenue in Chicago, was charged with retail theft. Mall security told police Boykin left a department store around 9:45 p.m. with an unpaid-for pair of Nike basketball shoes on his feet. Police said he left his old shoes behind. They found Boykin standing next to the Pace bus stop outside the mall, according to the report.
