MONDAY, AUG. 22

Speeding Stop Yields More

Grzegorz Mika, 32, of the 5400 block of Kildare Avenue in Chicago, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol with a blood alcohol level greater than .08, and was cited for possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to . An officer in the 14900 block of LaGrange Road saw a car make an illegal lane change and speed up to 50 mph in a 35 mph zone around 12:10 a.m. The officer pulled over the car in the 13100 block of LaGrange Road. The officer smelled alcohol on Mika's breath, and he failed field sobriety tests, police said. The officer found two glass pipes and a small bag of cannabis, according to the report.

Domestic Battery Charge

Jessie J. Williams, 52, of the 15300 block of Jillian Road in Orland Park, was charged with domestic battery. Officers were called to the address after the accuser said Williams had called her a variety of names and struck her in the face around 8:15 p.m., according to the report.

Theft

Lulu M. Bradshaw, 56, of the 6900 block of 157th Place in Tinley Park, was charged with theft. Police were called to the Meijer's Store, 15701 S. Harlem Ave., regarding a possible employee theft on Aug. 13 around 6:30 a.m. Security footage recorded Bradshaw opening a deposit envelope and removing the cash inside, police said. The video showed that instead of returning to the cash register area, Bradshaw went into the washroom and took the $910 in the envelope, according to the report.

SATURDAY, AUG. 20

Icing Theft

Lori S. Baker, 18, of the 14500 block of South Union Avenue in Riverdale, was cited for retail theft. Loss prevention at the Icing, 748 Orland Square Dr., saw Baker remove a bracelet from a display, walk to the back of the store, put the bracelet in her pocket and leave the store without paying around 8:45 p.m., police said. Baker was released at the scene and banned from the mall for a year.

DUI Arrest

Frank J. Kolar, 52, of the 16700 block of 89th Avenue in Orland Hills, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. An officer on patrol near 159th and Orlan Brook Drive saw Kolar cross over the median line and then make an improper turn onto 88th Avenue from 159th around 3:15 a.m., police said. The officer pulled Kolar over in the 8800 block of Crystal Creek Drive. The officer smelled alcohol on Kolar's breath and he failed field sobriety tests, police said. Kolar was also issued tickets for the traffic violations.

FRIDAY, AUG. 19

Criminal Trespass Arrest the Mall

Charles E. Ruffin, 30, of the 3800 block of East 14th Avenue in Gary, IN, was charged with criminal trespassing to a vehicle. A man called police saying that while parked at the upper level lot at Sears, 289 Orland Square Dr., he heard his alarm going off. A witness said that he saw Ruffin reach into the 2006 Honda and roll down the rear window at 3:45 p.m. The officer was able to apprehend Ruffin inside the mall, according to the report.

DUI Arrest Near Sandburg

Bonnie J. Coen, 42, of the 16600 block of Stuart Avenue in Orland Park, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol with a blood alcohol level greater than .08 and illegal transportation of alcohol. An officer was called to Carl Sandburg High School regarding a drunk driver. The officer followed the car from the 14300 block of LaGrange Road around 7:45 p.m. and pulled over Coen in the 14800 block of Ravinia Avenue, according to the report. The officer smelled alcohol on Coen's breath, and found a "mostly empty" half pint of vodka in a brown paper bag under the passenger seat, police said. Coen was also issued a ticket for failing to signal.

Drug and DUI Arrest

Tadeus A. Majkrzak, Jr., 25, of the 12600 block of Suffield Drive in Palos Park, was charged with driving under the influence of drugs. Officers were called to the 14300 block of LaGrange Road regarding a reckless driver. The officers saw a number of objects hanging from the rear view mirror and obstructing the driver's view, police said. Majkrzak then made a turn without signaling and was swerving on 143rd Street around 11:35 p.m., according to the report. One of the officers smelled cannabis coming from the car, and found residual cannabis and a blunt wrapper, police said. Majkrzak failed sobriety tests, according to the report.
