Domestic Battery

Police said they were sent to the 16000 block of South Haven Avenue after a caller dialed 911 and hung up around 2 a.m. Officers found two men who starting arguing while in a car, and it escalated once they stepped outside, according to the report. One man punched the other man in the face, police said. The man who was hit had a swollen left eye, a bloody mouth and his jaw appeared off-center, police said. Dried blood was seen on the right hand of the other man, according to the report. Daniel Kerbs Jr., 21, of the 16000 block of South Haven Avenue in Orland Hills, was charged with domestic battery.

Friday, Feb. 11

Thwarted Shorts Swipe

Police said they were called about a retail theft at Wal-Mart around 7:40 p.m. Security told officers that a man carrying a black backpack attempted to take items without purchasing and left the store headed west, according to the report. An officer found a man who matched the description carrying a black backpack while walking south on 94th Avenue. Store security said the man tried to take compression shorts worth $44.58, but left them near the store’s entrance when confronted, according to the report. Elijah O. Brown, 19, of the 15700 block of Trumbull Avenue in Markham was charged with retail theft.
