Orland Park police reports, June 4-8

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 8

Blown Sign, DUI

Todd E. Johannsen, 42, of the 7400 block of Sycamore Court in Orland Park, was charged with aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol. According to the report, Johannsen ran a stop sign in the 15100 block of South Catalina Drive around 2 a.m. A check of his name found that he had a revoked driver's license from a previous DUI charge. The Cook County Assistant State's Attorney approved the felony charge. Johannsen appeared in bond court in Bridgeview.

Rock in the Marlboros

Timothy M. Couch, 33, of the 14800 block of Kilpatrick Avenue in Midlothian, was charged with possession of a controlled substance. According to police, an officer on patrol followed Couch after he was seen making turns near the Harris Bank and a car dealership in the 9100 block of 159th Street around 2 a.m. The report said there had been recent burglaries to new cars at the dealership. Couch was pulled over for making an illegal turn, and a search of the car found a pack of cigarettes with a piece of crack cocaine concealed inside, police said. Couch was taken to Bridgeview for a bond hearing.

Toys 'R' Us Theft

Torrin A. Caldwell, 23 of the 1800 block of Oreo Drive in Munster, Ind., was charged with retail theft at Toys 'R' Us, 45 Orland Square Drive. According to police, a store employee noticed that four Nintendo 3DS gaming systems were missing, and a check of surveillance video showed Caldwell, who is a store employee, removing the gaming systems on June 5 around 3 p.m. He was released on bond pending a July 22 Bridgeview court date.

Working on the Car Leads to Warrant Arrest

Kurt C. Wagner, 58, of the 9200 block of Montgomery Drive in Orland Park, was picked up on an in-state warrant. According to the report, police were called to the 9200 block of Montgomery because Wagner was working on his car in the public view beyond three days (a violation of Orland Park Municipal Code). A run of Wagner's name found that he had a warrant from the Buffalo Grove Police for failure to appear on a DUI charge in 1995. He was released on bond pending a July 14 court date in Rolling Meadows.

In-State Warrant

Daniel J. Ottenhoff, 47, of the 14400 block of Ashley Court in Orland Park, turned himself in to Orland Park Police on a warrant in Itasca. He was transferred to the Itasca Police without incident, police said.

SATURDAY, JUNE 4

Shoplifting From Macy's

James Redmon, 59, of the 1200 block of 104th Place in Chicago, was charged with felony retail theft and assault. According to the report, an employee from Macy's at Orland Square Mall saw Redmon conceal items in the men's department in a backpack. When confronted, Redmon allegedly became irate and began to swear at the loss prevention agent. Since Redmon was recently convicted of retail theft, felony charges were approved by the Cook County Assistant State's Attorney. Redmon appeared in bond court on June 6 in Bridgeview.

Shoes Swiped

Janice Bradshaw, 44, of the 12600 block of Princeton Avenue in Chicago, was cited for retail theft. Loss prevention at Marshall's, 101 Orland Park Place, saw Bradshaw place shoes in a bag and attempt to leave the store. Bradshaw was released at the scene and is due in local court on July 12 at the Orland Park Civic Center.

Peddling Magazines

Dominique N. Triplett, 22, and Kimberly N. Johnson, 22, of the 400 block of Lipford Street in Memphis, Tenn., were cited for soliciting without a permit. The two were seen selling magazines around 6 p.m. in an Orland Park subdivision, police said. They were released at the scene and are due in local court at the civic center on July 12.

DUI Over the Limit

Daryl A. Ward, Jr., 26, of the 12800 block of West Meadowview Lane in Homer Glen, was charged with driving under the influence with a blood alcohol content over 0.08. According to the report, he was pulled over for not using a turn signal near 151st and Wolf Road around 3 a.m. He also was issued traffic tickets and was released on bond pending a July 26 court date in Bridgeview.
