Driving (and Spitting) Under the Influence

Erin H. Donahue, 27, of the 6700 block of South Pointe Drive in Tinley Park, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia and assaulting a peace officer. According to the report, an officer on the 8500 block of 151st Street saw a car swerve across the center median just before 1 a.m. The officer found a pipe, cannabis and an open bottle of beer in the car, according to the report. While being taken to the police station, the officer heard spitting sounds from the back seat, and later found that Donahue had spat on the glass partition in the squad car. The report said that if the partition was not up, Donahue's spit would have hit the officer. Donahue was later released on bond pending an Aug. 1 Bridgeview court date.

Bags of Marijuana in Cigarette Pack

A patrol officer on the 7300 block of 151st Street saw a car cross the center median multiple times around 12:25 a.m. While talking to the driver, Mohammad A. Najjar, 36, of the 10700 block of Linder Avenue in Oak Lawn, the officer smelled burnt cannabis coming from the car, according to the report. Two bags of marijuana inside a pack of cigarettes and a burnt piece of a joint were found, police said. Najjar was released at the scene and has a June 12 local court date at the Orland Park Civic Center.

TUESDAY, JUNE 14

Earrings Grab

At around 3:55 p.m., police were called about a retail theft at Claire's in Orland Square. The employee told police that Kena A. Green, 18, of the 7700 block of Luella Avenue in Chicago, was seen taking earrings from a display and putting the pair in her pocket. She was cited and released at the scene and is due in local court at the Orland Park Civic Center on July 12.

Pipe Found

Abdelhalim Y. Khoga, 24, of the 2700 block of Bristol Drive in Lisle, was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia. A patrol officer near 143rd Street and John Humphrey Drive pulled over a car with a torn temporary license around 3:45 a.m., police said. The officer smelled burnt cannabis coming from the car and found a pipe, according to the report. Khoga was released at the scene and is due in local court at the Orland Park Civic Center on July 12.
