Stolen Shirt Never Left Store

Danielle N. Maxwell, 21, of the 6600 block of Wolcott Avenue in Chicago, was charged with retail theft and obstructing justice. Security at a store in 15600 block of LaGrange Road told police that Maxwell hid a shirt in her purse and fled in a car around 3 p.m. That car was stopped minutes later near La Grange Road and 159th Street, where police could not find the stolen shirt, according to the report.

Even though an employee told police the shirt was found near the exit of the store, police still charged Maxwell with retail theft. A background check showed she had a warrant for her arrest in Evergreen Park for retail theft, police said.

On the way to the station, Maxwell “violently” kicked the inside passenger-side rear window and screamed “loudly,” according to the report.

Slight Injury at Accident

Michael P. Corcoran, 62, of the 15400 block of Sunflower Court in Orland Park, was charged with DUI and failure to reduce speed to avoid accident. Police said Corcoran struck a car in the 7900 block of 159th Street from behind around 8:30 p.m. The force of that impact pushed the car into a second car, police said. One of the drivers reported a “slight pain in the neck,” according to the report.

Domestic Battery

Colleen L. McInerney, 21, of the 14400 block of Jefferson Avenue, was charged with domestic battery. Police said McInerney punched and slapped a man in her home after he tried keeping her from her car keys and a loaded gun around 3:45 a.m. The gun, which was enclosed in a case at the time, was confiscated by police because McInerney drank alcohol earlier in the night, police said.

Her 16-month-old child was in the other room with a baby-sitter, according to the report.
