MONDAY, MAY 9

Traffic Stop Finds Marijuana

Piotr Las, 18, of the 12600th block of Sedgewick Drive in Palos Park, and Luke N. Lafaire, 18, of the 9300th block of 82nd Court in Hickory Hills, were arrested and cited for possession of cannabis and drug paraphernalia, police said. Police stopped Lafaire after he made an illegal left turn, according to the report. Lafaire's car wouldn't start after the traffic stop. When the officer came to assist, a strong odor of cannabis was coming from the car. The police later seized 3.3 grams of marijuana, two smoking pipes and a cigar that had been split in half, the report said. A juvenile also was in the car and was cited and turned over to his mother. Lafaire and Las were later released. Lafaire, Las, and the juvenile are due in court at the Orland Park Civic Center.

Retail Theft from J.C. Penney

Josefina Rodriguez-Castro, 51, of the 2800th block of Broadway in Blue Island, was arrested and cited for retail theft, police said. According to the report, loss prevention saw Rodriguez-Castro take a change purse from a sales display and conceal it. She exited the store without paying and later was turned over to Orland Park Police. She was released at the scene and is due in local court at the Orland Park Civic Center.

She Hid it Where?

Brittany A. Erfft, 22, of the 21200th block of Brittany Drive in Frankfort, was arrested and charged with retail theft, and Melissa M. Davis, of the 7700th block of Richardson Lane in Tinley Park, was cited for retail theft, police said. According to the report, loss prevention at Kohl's in Orland Park witnessed Davis place a tank top and bracelet inside her bra and Erfft place jeans and eight pieces of jewelry inside her purse. Davis is due in local court at the Orland Park Civic Center, and Erfft is due in court in Bridgeview.

Retail Theft from Claire's

Clarrissa A. Rice, 19, of the 14900th block of LaSalle Street in Dolton, was arrested and cited for retail theft, police said. According to the report, an employee saw her take a pair of earrings without paying.

SUNDAY, MAY 8

In-State Warrant Executed

Theresa L. King, 25, of the 200th block of W 100 South in Valparaiso, Ind., was turned over to Orland Park Police after Chicago Police arrested her on an Orland Park warrant. She was unable to post bond and was transferred to the lockup at the Bridgeview courthouse, where she is awaiting trial. Bail was set at $20,000 on the warrant from Nov. 2009.

SATURDAY, MAY 7

Drug Paraphernalia in Car

Matthew E. Jutzi, 26, of the 0-100th block of Raleigh Court in Palos Heights, was arrested for not having a driver's license and driving with improper license plates and cited for possession of drug paraphernalia, police said. According to the report, a search of Jutzi's car yielded a pipe with marijuana residue in the pipe bowl. Jutzi was released on bond and is due in Bridgeview court for the traffic violations and in local court at the Orland Park Civic Center for the drug paraphernalia citation.

FRIDAY, MAY 6

Retail Theft from Macy's

Brandon M. Mazie, 18, of the 9300th block of Wherry Lane in Orland Park, was arrested and charged with retail theft and obstructing identification, police said. According to the report, Mazie had been handcuffed by the store's loss prevention team. A witness reported seeing Mazie place clothing in a bag and attempt to leave the store without paying for it. Mazie provided a false name to both police and the store's loss prevention, according to the report. He posted bond and is due in court in Bridgeview.

WEDNESDAY, MAY 4

Underage Possession of Alcohol

Marie L. Wolski, 20, of the 10600th block of Finten Court, and Ryan J. Dencek, 20, of the 9200th block of Westinghouse Drive, both of Mokena, were arrested and cited for drug paraphernalia and underage possession of alcohol, respectively, police said. According to the report, police stopped Wolski's car near Orland Bowl because it matched the description of one thought to be involved in an earlier burglary. When police made sure neither person matched the description of the suspect, the officer smelled cannabis coming from the car and saw three beer bottles at the feet of Dencek in the passenger's seat, the report said. A search yielded a pipe from Wolski's purse, police said. Wolski and Dencek are due in court at the Orland Park Civic Center.

THURSDAY, APRIL 28

Icing on the Cake

Megan E. Pilackas, 22, of the 1400th block of Capri Lane in Dyer, Ind., was cited for retail theft, police said. An employee of the Icing by Claire's in Orland Square Mall reported seeing Pilackas take a ring and put it in her pocket. She was released at the scene and is due in local court at the Orland Park Civic Center.
