Police Blotter: Underage DUIs, Pot on the Frisbee

Orland Park police reports: June 20-22

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 22

Underage DUI

Jose M. Vazquez, 19, of the 15200 block of Sacramento Avenue in Markham, was charged with driving under the influence with a blood-alcohol level greater than .08, and Dagoberto Ramirez, 19, of the 15000 block of Castlebar Lane in Orland Park, was charged with underage consumption of alcohol.

An officer pulled over a car after seeing it drive through a red light at 143rd Street and LaGrange Road and then fail to stop at the stop sign at 94th Avenue and John Humphrey Drive, police said. The officer smelled alcohol on Vazquez's breath and conducted field sobriety tests, police said. After Vazquez was in custody, Ramirez blasted music and yelled out the car window, according to the report. An officer ordered Ramirez out of the car, and Ramirez began to swear at officers, police said. The officer also smelled alcohol from Ramirez, and police said Ramirez spat on the partition windows in the squad car. Both men were released on bond pending a Bridgeview court date of July 26.

In-State Warrant Executed

According to police, an officer was doing a check of the Marcus Cinema property, 16350 LaGrange Rd., and saw Everett C. Smith, 35, of the 100 block of Walden Road in Joliet, and someone else sleeping in the back of a white truck in the lot around 3 a.m. A name check found that Smith had an outstanding warrant from 1999 with Orland Park Police. He was released on bond pending a July 26 Bridgeview court date.

In-State Warrant

Police went to the 15800 block of Orlan Brook Drive to serve an Orland Park warrant from June 16 on a suspended license charge. They picked up Donna K. Procaccio, no age listed, at her Orland Park home around 7 p.m. She had a bond hearing on June 22 in Bridgeview.

No Seat Belts, Bag of Marijuana

Andrew Nomat, 18, of the 7300 block of Sandalwood Drive in Tinley Park, and Sharif I. Ali, 19, of the 8100 Justin Court in Tinley Park, were each cited for possession of cannabis. According to the report, an officer pulled over a car after seeing both the driver and passenger not wearing a seatbelt around 12:30 a.m. in the 7200 block of 159th Street. The officer smelled cannabis coming from the car, and Ali handed over a bag of cannabis, police said. A blunt was found under the passenger seat, according to the report. Ali also was cited for not wearing his seatbelt. The two men are due in local court at the Orland Park Civic Center on July 12.

MONDAY, JUNE 20

Doobie at Doogan

Christopher Raynor, 18, of the 10000 block of Holly Court in Orland Park, was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana. According to the report, an officer at Doogan Park on 147th Street saw Raynor emptying a plastic bag with a green, leafy substance onto a Frisbee around 4:30 p.m. When the officers rode up to the pavilion, they smelled cannabis. One of the officers later saw a pipe under the Frisbee and a grinder on table, police said. Raynor was cited and released at the scene pending a July 12 local court date at the Orland Park Civic Center.

Warrant Arrests

  • Phillip J. Boyd, 30, of the 2400 Brunswick Circle in Woodridge, was picked up on an Orland Park Police warrant. He had a June 21 bond hearing in Bridgeview.
  • Ericka S. Garrett, 23, of the 14000 block of South Atlantic in Riverside, was picked up on two warrants from Orland Park for theft. She had a bond hearing June 21 in Bridgeview.
