Police Looking for Another Ruse Burglar

Earlier in March, police said a man distracted a woman while talking about landscaping, and she later discovered that jewelry was missing.

The are urging residents to be wary of ruse burglars in the area, who are distracting homeowners while cohorts are likely stealing from them in the process.

A burglary was reported around noon in the 7800 block of Dakota Lane, according to a release from the police department. A man introduced himself to an elderly woman as new to the neighborhood, entered her home and began asking the woman about lanscaping, police said. At a point, the man talked into a radio or phone, according to the release.

After the man left, the woman noticed jewelry was missing, police said.

The man is described as:

  • 5 feet 6 inches tall
  • stocky build
  • white with an olive complexion
  • wearing work clothes
  • likely between 40 and 50 years old

Similar ruse burglaries were reported to police on Feb. 29 in the 8900 block of Oakdale and also on .
