The Orland Park police say they found the pills they were looking for when they raided a suspected drug dealer's Lockport home but also came away with more than $5,000 worth of silver bars and gold coins.

The police seized $5,112 in Canadian gold coins and $531 worth of silver bars, and also took $896 in regular American cash and $84.60 of U.S. coins while serving a search warrant on 54-year-old Anson Fairtrace's residence.

The Orland Park police had developed information on Fairtrace's alleged drug dealing and launched an investigation in conjunction with the Lockport Police Department, said Orland Park Lt. James Bianchi.

After securing a search warrant, the law reportedly staked out Fairtrace's 212 E. 15th St. home. Officers were about to move in when Fairtrace pulled up in his 1994 Chevy Astro van, Bianchi said.

Inside the house, police found a safe containing not only the precious metals but also 253 hydrocodone pills, 255 oxycontin pills and 40 alprazolam pills.

"He was selling pills out of the house in Lockport," Bianchi said.

Along with the silver, gold, bills, pills and change, the police confiscated Fairtrace's safe, two cell phones, his wallet, credit cards and the Astro van.

Fairtrace was booked into the Will County jail on charges of possession of a controlled substance and controlled substance trafficking. He was freed the day after his arrest after posting $50,000 bond.
