South Suburban DUI Arrests, April 1

I'm not sure how my van got up on this curb, officer. A glassy-eyed roundup of recent Southland drunken driving arrests.

March 11: John J. Tongson, 23, of the 7600 block of 163 rd Place in Tinley Park was charged with driving under the influence and BAC of 0.08 or more. Police said Tongson failed field sobriety and breath tests after stopping his car outside the Georgio’s Comfort Inn around 4 a.m. for driving over a grassy area to get to the back of the hotel parking lot.

March 8: Rosemarie A. Meegan, 21, of the 16000 block of Haven Avenue in Orland Hills was charged with DUI, BAC of 0.08 or more, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and improper lane usage. Police said Meegan failed field sobriety and breath tests after stopping her car in her driveway around 4:30 a.m. for crossing into oncoming traffic lanes and making abrupt lane changes.

March 2: Haley A. Mason, 30, of the 1300 block of McDowell Road in Naperville was charged with DUI. Police said Mason failed field sobriety tests after she was found sleeping behind the wheel of her car in the 15900 block of 91st Avenue around 2 a.m. with the engine running. A caller told police Mason’s car had been blocking a driveway.

March 19: Police pulled over a vehicle near 99th and Kedzie Avenue after they spotted it crossing the center line and driving without headlights at about 1:01 a.m., according to reports. Officers said Timothy L. Donoegan, 53, of Evergreen Park had glassy eyes, slurred speech and smelled strongly of alcohol. He was charged with driving under the influence, improper lane usage, driving without headlights when required and uninsured motor vehicle.

March 13: Police said Kevin B. Venegas, 22, of Chicago was driving a silver 2004 Pontiac with expired plates northbound on Kedzie Avenue at at 1:55 a.m. After stopping Venegas at 100th Street and Homan Avenue, police said, Venegas admitted to drinking, failed field sobriety tests and blew .12 on the Breathalyzer, above the legal limit. Police charged Venegas with driving under the influence, driving under the influence of alcohol with .08 or more blood alcohol content, expired registration plate sticker, improper display of sticker and no insurance. Reports said he was also cited a municipal violation for the tow of the vehicle.

March 12: At 1:47 a.m., police saw Todd R. Soliday, 31, of Evergreen Park driving a 2008 Chevrolet northbound on Kedzie Avenue in the 9100 block, going 50 mph in a 35 mph zone. According to reports, he didn’t stop until he reached 88th Street. Soliday had blood-shot eyes and slurred speech, police said, and admitted that he had been drinking. According to reports, Soliday failed all field sobriety tests. Police said Soliday failed to give sufficient breath to register on the Breathalyzer. Soliday was charged with speeding and driving under the influence of alcohol.

March 12: According to reports, police went to help a motorist with a vehicle stuck on a curb in a cul-de-sac in the 9600 block of Harding Ave. at 2:11 a.m. When police met with Michael P. McMahon, 23, of Homer Glen, they saw him exiting the van. “McMahon relayed that he did not drive the van, but had attempted to remove the van from the curb prior to calling 9-1-1,” police said, adding that “He also stated that he had been drinking.” According to police, the car was registered to McMahon. McMahon failed all field sobriety tests, police said, and refused to take a Breathalyzer test. Police charged McMahon with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving on a sidewalk area.

March 21: Treion Usher, 26, of the 500 block of Antietam Street in Park Forest was charged with driving under the influence, driving with BAC greater than 0.08, improper parking, no insurance, driving on a suspended license and no valid registration. Police said Usher failed field sobriety and breath tests after finding him slumped over the wheel of his car at 15th Street and Wilson Avenue around 7 a.m.

March 20: Ashley L. Davis, 26, of the 2400 block of Chicago Road in Chicago Heights was charged with driving under the influence, failure to wear seat belt, driving while suspended and no insurance. Police said they met with Davis at her house, around 4 a.m., about her missing car. After locating it in the 300 block of Hickory Street and waiting for a tow, Davis showed up behind the wheel of another smelling of alcohol. She was arrested after failing field sobriety tests, police said.

March 3: Jose Gomez-Izquierdo, 40, of the 1200 block of West End Avenue, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after police saw him nearly hit another vehicle while turning northbound onto Chicago Road, according to the report. Police then observed Gomez-Izquierdo’s car taking up two lanes and pulled him over, according to the report. After police discovered Gomez-Izquierdo did not have a valid license, he was ordered to take field sobriety tests, which he failed, according to the report.

March 3: Luis L. Hernandez-Guzman, 29, of the 1200 block of West End Avenue, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after police stopped him near the intersection of 16th Street and Thorn Street just after 2 a.m., according to the report.

March 25: William Porter, 28, of the 9800 block of Winston Avenue in Chicago was charged with driving under the combined influence of drugs and alcohol, improper lighting, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of cannabis. Police said Porter failed field sobriety tests but later passed a Breathalyzer exam after stopping his car at Dixie Highway and Vardon Lane around 2 a.m. for driving with one headlight. His car smelled of marijuana and officers found a bag containing 1.5 grams of it in his center console, according to the report.

March 23: Pablo L. Granado, 28, of the 17100 block of Valley Drive in Tinley Park was charged with driving under the influence, driving with blood-alcohol content greater than 0.08, failure to reduce speed to avoid accident and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. Police said he failed field sobriety and breath tests after sideswiping a car at 159th Street and Oak Park Avenue around 7:30 p.m.
