University of Chicago, Orland Park Moving Ahead with Medical Center Plans

Plans for a medical facility near 143rd and LaGrange are progressing.

The University of Chicago and Village of Orland Park are taking the next steps toward a medical center on the Main Street Triangle campus.

The proposed four-story, 120,000-square-foot outpatient care facility would be built on the corner of 143rd and LaGrange Road, just east of the Ninety7Fifty apartment complex.

University of Chicago Medicine has pitched the facility to the Illinois Health Facilities Review Board, which is expected to issue its decision at its August 27 meeting. If approved, the facility could possibly break ground as early as this fall.

Orland Park could make $18.4 million from the $$67 million project, which would be completed by 2018.
