Orland Township Computer Class to Begin in 2011

Orland Township and Best Buy have, once again, teamed up to host a series of six-week computer classes for residents, beginning Thursday, Jan. 20, from 9-11 a.m. at the Orland Township Technology Center at 14807 S. Ravinia Ave.

Subjects for the class were created from questionnaires completed by Orland Township residents, allowing instructors to focus on what people specifically have a desire to learn. Topics include Internet basics, e-mail, Internet security, social media and digital photography. In addition, the classes will feature hands-on instruction from Best Buy's Geek Squad,

"The first six week computer course was so well received that we knew immediately that the community wanted more," Supervisor Paul O'Grady said. "These classes open up what can be the sometimes daunting world of computers by providing the information people want without getting too technical and becoming confusing.

"Partnering with Best Buy has made the classes even better, as they bring knowledge and expertise from a trusted source to the classes. It's a really wonderful way for a large business to reach out and aid its community."
