Saturday Is Kids Day At the Taste of Orland Park

The Village of Orland Park will host its tenth annual Taste of Orland Park at the Orland Park Village Center, August 2 to 4, 2013. During the three day fest, Saturday is Kids Day at the adjoining John Humphrey Sports Complex, 14700 West Avenue. Kids Day is jammed packed with fun activities from 1pm to 5pm and is open to kids of all ages.

This year’s activities include face painting, spin art crafts, Grand Slam Batting and “Touch-A-Truck.” There will also be from Micro-Reality Stock Car Racing, Game Truck, the Village of Orland Park jumpy, Sarah’s Pony Rides & Petting Zoo and Giant Chair photos. Additionally Moon Jump INC is providing a slide, jumpy and obstacle course for kids to enjoy.

The Family Water Balloon Toss is a great way to cool off after enjoying the live entertainment in the hot summer weather. The Balloon Toss requires no registration and it will begin at 2:30pm.

The Family Egg Drop competition is back with the competition beginning at 3:30pm. Each team, which must include an adult and a child, must create and bring a device to catch the falling eggs. The egg-catching devices must be no larger than two feet in diameter and pillows may not be used. Teams also may not use their hands to catch the falling eggs.

Winning teams in the Family Water Balloon Toss and the Family Egg Drop will win a free pavilion rental and 12 passes for the village’s Centennial Park Aquatic Center.

A number of Orland Park associations will be present at Kids Day, including the Village of Orland Park Fencing Program, Orland Park Pioneer Football & Cheerleading, Orland Park Soccer Club Soccer Combine, Orland Park Fire Protection District, and the Orland Park Police Department.

Also present at the event will be representatives ISU Quidditch Firebirds, Victory Martial Arts, Bulls/Sox Academy, Joon Lee’s Taekwondo, and Team USA Martial Arts.

The Taste of Orland Park will showcase some of Orland Park’s finest eateries. This three day celebration will be held at the Orland Park Village Center, 14700 South Ravinia Avenue. The Taste draws more than 40,000 attendees every year and includes live entertainment, community and sponsor booths and more. Admission and parking are free.
