Prevent Potential Pains of Falling Down at Palos Hospital

Flu shots, college planning, ice hockey, colorguard performance and other things to do this week in Orland Park and Palos.

Falling down can be caused by far more than tripping over an out-of-place item or sheer clumsiness.

Changes in blood pressure, types of medications and how evenly a cane touches the ground can all be factors causing a fall.

In light of all of the ways people can lose their balance and injure themselves, Palos Community Hospital is holding a fair Tuesday morning to better understand what can cause falls.

Lectures and presentations will take place, and screenings for vision, blood pressure and balance will also be available. A physical therapist will also be on hand to help calibrate walkers and canes. Medications can also be reviewed with a pharmacist.

Stop by at 10 a.m.  Tuesday, Oct. 1 at Palos Community Hospital, 12251 S. 80th Ave. in Palos Heights for the fair.
