Support Animal Rescuing by Shopping at Local Vendors

Veterans Day, healthy holiday eating, job hunting, helping abused children, live music and a lot more to do this week in and near Orland Park and Palos.

Sherree Lewis-Battersby decided to help others after surviving breast cancer.

The Orland Park native started The Spirit of Pink in order to do just that, but decided to go beyond breast cancer support. As she experienced the debilitating effects of chemotherapy, her cat Missy was by her side the whole time. The Spirit of Pink became entwined with Opt to Adopt, an effort focused on animal care.

Support both efforts Thursday, Nov. 14th from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Orland Park Civic Center, 14750 Ravinia Ave., by enjoying a Ladies Night Out.

Over 70 vendors will be on hand selling an array of goods. Proceeds will go to Lulu’s Locker Rescue, an Oak Forest-based animal rescue effort.

Admission is free, and the first 50 attendees receive goody bags.
